We had trouble finding a replacement last year during the season and I stumbled upon this one. It works GREAT. Upon ordering, I received it in about four days. It turned over the pool in no time and the water was sparkling with just a half day's run time. The previous filter had been on for two days at a clip and would not handle the pool. The only problem I had with this pump is the picture is not accurate. The picture shows a larger pump with the medium canister separate from the pump; that was a big selling point for me. This is a single canister with the pump inside and under the filter medium. I would have ponied up the extra $30 for the larger pump had I known. I was UPSET upon receiving it, as I felt I had been duped, but its performance has been exceptional. I would still buy the larger one for my pool (~14'round x 33" deep) if only to save on the operating costs. Other than that however no complaints! 38 of 39 people found the following review helpful. HOW TO FIX IMPELLER/ AND MAKE PUMP LAST By blinn79 I read many reviews on these intex pumps, and the problem that seems to plague them is a cheaply made plastic impeller that moves (pumps) the water. So listen up folks... if you buy a replacement pump, or even buy a pool set for the first time, BEFORE you even use the pump for the first time, take it apart until you can remove the impeller. This is pretty simple requiring only about 4 or 5 screws be removed... just make sure you pay attention to how it comes apart (especially the washers around the impeller). Then go down to walmart, home depot, lowes, or any autoparts store and buy some EPOXY. This should be two different liquids (or gels) that come in two different tubes that you must mix together. This stuff is SUPER STRONG, and most are rated for 2,500 to 3,500 lbs per square inch of strength... like steel almost. So what your going to do is get a small paint brush, and "paint" the impeller with epoxy, making a SUPER STRONG coat over the cheap plastic. Just make sure you don't get any on the inside of the hole in the center of the impeller where it slides onto the metal rod. Allow it 24 hours to dry (depending on what type of epoxy you use), and then reassemble the pump. I guarantee this will save you money and headaches in the long run. Jones When I first read about the saltwater pool I was hesitant, all I could think of was how the water was at the coast. My skin is always sticky after I get out and the taste when it gets in your mouth ugh! My younger sister said to me "oh you will love the saltwater , it will be so good for your skin, and it won't make your eyes burn and turn red." So I decided to go ahead and get the saltwater pool and guess what? We all love it and the water stays crystal clear hardly any work to maintain, just clean out the filter and skimmer and swim , swim , swim. Here in the hot sunny days of central Texas, a cool refreshing dip in the pool is very nice. I would buy another one if my yard was bigger! 25 of 25 people found the following review helpful. Awesome Pool! By Terri We bought this pool on sale in August 2010. It took us about a week to get it setup because we had to take it down once to get the land level - it seemed level but once we started filling the pool we noticed how off it was so we started again. Now we are maybe an inch off from one side to the other but have had no issues whatsoever. We filled the pool with salt and ran the pump and salt water generator as instructed. The pool has been up now for three weeks and is crystal clear and clean without any additional chemicals. We absolutly love how easy it is to keep clean. We got a solar cover as well which warms the pool somewhat but makes "heat spots" more than warming the entire pool - but that is OK because pools are meant to cool off! We swim in the pool everyday and cover it when not in use. We found we only have to vacuum one a week and the pool is under trees. Excellent Value By Flachick I am a 62 year old woman and I put this pool up by myself in 2 hours. The hard part was leveling the ground. That did take me a couple days work. I had a pretty good slope to deal with. Once that was done I had watched the videos and just started putting it together. In 2 hours I had the pool filling with water on Saturday and went swimming Sunday afternoon. The extra couple inches in the 52" pool compared to the 48" are well worth it if your someone who likes to swim. I haven't had it up long enough to know how well the cleaning system works but if it's anything like the rest of the product I'm sure it will be just fine. Amazon.com had the best price I could find and the free shipping worked very well. The company contacted me and we worked out the delivery. I did have to open the box to unload my truck in pieces instead of the whole box at one time but each item was packed in it's own box so there was no problem with that either. Shulmister Item works well, completely hands-off; when the spa pump runs, it comes on. Things to be aware of: 1. You need adequate power handling for the line going to the heater, at 11Kw on 240V, it pulls about 45 amps...a wire not designed to handle that kind of current will heat up, melt the insulation, and ultimately fail. 2. Heat isn't instant; my 1,000 gallon spa heats at a rate of 5 degrees Fahrenheit per hour...do the math...if the water is 70 degrees, and you want 100, it is going to take about 6 hours to get there. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. This heater maintains the temperature uniformly. We had a propane heater for a number of years before this heater was installed and this heater is really superior to that heater (more uniform heat, cheaper to run) except it does take longer to bring the spa to temperature than the propane heater did. Could work better By eganov First off, I don't know why anyone would order these adapters from any place other than Intex directly - the manufacturer. They sell them for about $2.50ea and you can get two, delivered anywhere for about $10. Second, while they do attach nicely, they do cause the rest of the hose and attachments to stick out and pull down on the protruding 1 1/4" black nozzle as another poster indicated. Finally, there is a design flaw in that the black gasket, on the end of the adapter that attaches to the plunger valve, is mated to a rim that is hollow. You can see this by just pulling the gasket back on that edge. Once assembled everything will work fine for a while. But after a few minutes, the gasket gets sucked into the hollow rim and causes air to enter the system resulting in a "buzzing" around the adapter and significantly reduced water flow - probably not good for the pump either. The rim really should be a solid flat surface for the gasket to mate to. This is probably caused by the a pump that is designed for 1 1/2" openings moving water through the a 1 1/4" adapter. I considered fixing this by filling the hollow edge with liquid resin available from a craft store. I ultimately just cut out the 1 1/4" inflow and outflow black tube and installed the strainer/nozzle assemblies that came with the pump, ditching the adapters altogether. Everything works fine and I have an 1 1/2" path through the whole system. An added benefit is that the assemblies now don't pull down on the pool liner as they are closer and have much more surface area in contact with the liner. 20 of 24 people found the following review helpful. I ordered the filter pump from another company on Amazon because it was cheaper. CMS then CANCELED my order because I did not order the pump from THEM!!!! With todays economy this is deplorable!!! To punish a family who is trying to save a bit on shipping and order a product from someone who is offering it cheaper than your company!!! I have never been so disgusted!! Childers Several coworkers recommended the Solar Pill, so we tried the solar pill this year when we filled our pool. I think it worked great. Our pool water went from bone-chilling to very nice within 3 days time. It usually takes weeks to warm up a little. Chlorine & PH don't seem to be affected by it. You just use the supplied tool to poke a hole in the plastic Solar Pill and place the plastic "pill" in the pool skimmer basket until it empties it's content. 19 of 21 people found the following review helpful. By hjohnso248 When I first saw these heaters I had my doubts as to thier thermal absorption rate, well the first set raised my water ( 15 ft round X 48 in. dp.appx 4000 gal) by 8 degrees F ,it was good for mid Ohio area,so I bought a second set and run them in parallel series with a intex 2500 gph. filter pump ,dedicated to just the heat system,with seperate inlet and discharge nozzele w/ 1 1/2 in lines. This 2nd set provided an additional 9 - 10 degrees, my pool can be as high as 98 -100, or I can leave the solar cover off and there is substantial heat loss overnight,pumps only run from 8 am to 8 pm, 2nd pump runs a intex salt system,(Awesome in its self) , Well all I can say is this is a well designed product,easy to work with and if maintained properly ,should last many seasons without fail.They are of some black pvc (?) but small leaks should be easy to field repair through some sort of solvent welding process. Any way I am going to purchase 2 more kits so I can probably enjoy my pool around september with the shorter daylight hours and the heavy duty silver film 8 mm solar cover ,it should work great late into the season, I'm usually pretty skeptical about "reasonably "priced items,But these passed the test, their easy to uncoil from the shipping mode, ( These people pack this stuff like a PRO,Solid and compact,) the box is around 50 lb,s. u s. It is best to unroll the panels together ,and in direct sunlight,SLOWLY,as they heat alittle,then unroll alittle. I think they heat these panels then roll them with a machine,then Bandit all together under tension, and when it cools, well it gets really stiff,But they will spring a bit when unbanded,(Please use sissors to cut bands,knives could knick the panwl surface) I think you would really damage them by forcibly unrolling them cold, I just rigged up a rope over my canopy and slowly pulled them up and 1/2 way over as they hung waiting the sun to heat some more unrolled material,once heated by the sun the panels are quite fleible and HOT! use gloves! Easy to hook up, all parts included to assemble panels, EXCEPT hoses and if you buy multiple sets ,or may you use multiple sets ,you will need additional 1 1/2 in male adaptorsand 1 1/2 in hose or tubing or 2 1/2 in coolant hose,(NAPA has for 15.00 per ft. and get the bigger hose clamps for 2.00 apiece, no since doing a slipshod job from the beggining,These panels work, and I would definitly buy agin and recommend to others, ALSO , this work can involve working at heights, use all appropiate saftey gear. and methods ,or hire a contractor to install ,P S, please read and understand the instructions,principles of fluid dynamics ,and how to use this system ,I am quite sure you also will have a fantastic heater for your pool, DONT forget to build your system to drain in winter ,the freezing could very well cause trapped water to burst the cappilaries in the mat or end manifolds, they sell vacumn relief valves at thier storefront, Have a great summer. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.
