By Melanie We bought this pool on clearance at the end of June, and set it up right away. I had read all kinds of bad reviews about it so I was a little nervous, but figured what the heck, it was cheap so why not? First I put the filter together. The instructions were pretty stupid but putting the filter together was straightforward once you got the hang of it. Then I unrolled the pool and found a level patch in the backyard to put it on. I cleared away the sticks and acorns, and then spread the pool out. I used an air pump to blow up the ring (I used a handheld, which was fine, but it would be much easier and faster with an automatic one if you have it). Once the ring was blown up, I got the hose and put it in. When there were about 2 inches of water in the pool, I walked around and made sure it was mostly level. The ground was a little uneven and lumpy, but it didn't seem to affect the pool. I spread the pool out and flattened the bottom as it filled (there are still some wrinkles but they're minor and I'm not concerned about them). Once I was satisfied, I just went inside. I came out every half hour to check the progress and make sure it wasn't tipping to one side or anything. It took I think 6 hours to fill the pool, all told. And it's a little "off"... I think one side is probably an inch or two higher than the other, but it doesn't make any difference or have any effect on the pool whatsoever. They say in the instructions that as long as it's only a 1-2" difference, it is fine, but any more than that and you'll need to redo it. I didn't use any sand or any other leveling device on the yard. I just didn't find it necessary. It's a great pool, and I'm getting a lot of use out of it just in the last week that it's been up! I wholeheartedly recommend this pool to anyone and everyone! Great, great, great pool! Lots of fun! 9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. Swimming By Lynn Kids love this pool. Had to purchase a larger filter as the one this came with wasn't sufficient to keep things clean. Other than that, a great product! 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. The Filter pump By Terence G. Henry The pool is great! The filter that comes with it stinks! It has no power-it constanly has air in the lines. This filter is not powerful enough for this size pool. I ended up spending an extra $160.00 to get a filter powerful enough to clean this pool properly. I called Intex-they don't care and Customer Service at Amazon wasn't much better! The connections for the filter hoses to the pool are very flimsy. See all 10 customer reviews...

Most helpful customer reviews 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Yay, warm water at last! By Kimberly E. Beall Our pool is in shade most of the morning, so the water temperature used to seldom get above 80F, and even that on only a few of the hottest days of the year. That's not really comfortable for quiet lounging with a book, though to justify the cost of the pool I would force myself to do so anyway :) Putting this cover on has made all the difference! The water is regularly over 86F now and it's not even July yet. Even my husband, who had only used the pool like three times since we bought it, gets in with me now. The main thing it does is prevent losing heat overnight. It used to be that the pool was only ever warm on days that followed very hot nights. Now that we are leaving this cover on over night, the water that gets warm during the day, stays warm, so that by the time the sun hits the pool the next day, it adds to the temperature instead of just replacing lost heat again. The material really is very sturdy - not your average bubble wrap, but much thicker, and also a pleasing shade of blue. It sticks to the surface of the water like a suction-cup in a wind-storm (we've had several since we bought it) but rain doesn't accumulate on top and sink it. I was also pleased to find that cutting the material to fit around the pool steps does not void the warranty. Our pool has very good circulation, so the temperature is even from the surface to the bottom. I have had no problem with running the pump with the cover on - it doesn't get sucked into the skimmer or anything like that. One thing I was concerned about was that the chlorine floater would not be able to move around, and that a buildup of chlorine in one spot would damage the liner, but when the pump is running the chlorine floater bobs about all around underneath it just as it would without the cover, so that's good, too! The only drawback is that this cover - we have the 21' round - is pretty heavy, and is very hard for just one person to put on or remove unless they actually get inside the pool to do it. But since I'm usually removing it so that I can get into the pool, it's not really that big an inconvenience. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. bubble cover By BbGdrch This is an excellent product. If you let it lie in the water the water tension holds it down so you don't have to deal with the wind blowing it away. I have tried many covers and this is the only one that works in windy conditions. It does keep out leaves and most bugs. It is easy to remove and replace. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. solar blanket By Vikki Hallen This is like a great big piece of blue bubble wrap on one side. It doesn't tie down which I read before I ordered, so, I ordered a larger size to drape over the edges of our pool w/room to spare. It works. The surface of the pool down a few inches was warmer. Since we live in central Texas we don't get severely cold weather and this will work for us. Plan to have this "blanket" on and then cover w/our Intex pool cover which ties down. I put it together and took it apart multiple times because it was the only thing that leaked after I had the entire system set up. Maybe I was doing something wrong, but its pretty simple to put together. One thing, don't be fooled by the photos. The panels will not set up nicely against the side of your pool by themselves like the promo pictures show. (Unless someone out there knows a trick) and no one out there sells racks pre-made, so you will have to make due with placing the panels at an angle against the pool the best you can or on the ground. But in one day, with one set of 4x10ft (that's all I have room for), the temperature of the pool with the use of a solar cover, went up 5 degrees with the pump only running about 6 hours. 21 of 21 people found the following review helpful. Worth the money, but not a pretty set-up By Ali I agree with the prior poster, this does not set up nicely without some major work. My husband and father-in-law actually built a stand for it out of 2x4s and mounted it to our fence to get maximum sun exposure. This method worked well. For our size pool they recommended we get two of these, but we opted to get one and see if we liked it and honestly our water was on avg. 8 degrees warmer. I was amazed how well it worked. We only used it for one summer and we took it down and are storing it for winter. I will update this next summer if we have any problems. When setting it up we did have to go buy piping and such to connect it to the pool. What you get in the box for this item is just the basics. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Great deal for our summer season! By Michael A. Evans I bought this for our 12 x 20 Intex pool to extend the swim season for my two boys in Michigan. Our pool has limited sunlight, and we have used a solar pool cover for the last two years, but it didn't help much. This heater has been a GREAT addition for us! During our most recent startup, we filled the pool and the water was 57 degrees...after three hot sunny days in the 85 degree range, the pool temp was up to 88! We still use the solar cover, but mostly to keep heat from escaping at night and the diverter valve gets switched at night for the same reason. I have to agree with other posters, the unit does not lay out anything like the pictures show, and we built a wooden rack to help them lay flat at a 45 degree angle to catch the most sun. All in all, highly recommended. See all 4 customer reviews...

I purchased this to utilize the previous solar rail pole that was 25 years old. The old wheel system just collapsed over time and I needed a replacement. Definitely saved money instead of buying a whole new reel system. The pole slides on the plastic casters perfectly, it must be a univeral configuration. I did have to customize the pole a bit due to removal of older wheels but that had nothing to do with this product. The unit comes with proper screws to double secure nothing slips over time. You will need a drill but the screws are self tapping. Project was easier due to having two of us put it together. Pruduct is 100% PVC, heavy duty, well designed and durable. Jones When I first read about the saltwater pool I was hesitant, all I could think of was how the water was at the coast. My skin is always sticky after I get out and the taste when it gets in your mouth ugh! My younger sister said to me "oh you will love the saltwater , it will be so good for your skin, and it won't make your eyes burn and turn red." So I decided to go ahead and get the saltwater pool and guess what? We all love it and the water stays crystal clear hardly any work to maintain, just clean out the filter and skimmer and swim , swim , swim. Here in the hot sunny days of central Texas, a cool refreshing dip in the pool is very nice. I would buy another one if my yard was bigger! 25 of 25 people found the following review helpful. Awesome Pool! By Terri We bought this pool on sale in August 2010. It took us about a week to get it setup because we had to take it down once to get the land level - it seemed level but once we started filling the pool we noticed how off it was so we started again. Now we are maybe an inch off from one side to the other but have had no issues whatsoever. We filled the pool with salt and ran the pump and salt water generator as instructed. The pool has been up now for three weeks and is crystal clear and clean without any additional chemicals. We absolutly love how easy it is to keep clean. We got a solar cover as well which warms the pool somewhat but makes "heat spots" more than warming the entire pool - but that is OK because pools are meant to cool off! We swim in the pool everyday and cover it when not in use. We found we only have to vacuum one a week and the pool is under trees. The size is perfect for our family of four - we can even fit a few relatives and still have more personal space than when we go to the public pool! 16 of 16 people found the following review helpful. Excellent Value By Flachick I am a 62 year old woman and I put this pool up by myself in 2 hours. The hard part was leveling the ground. That did take me a couple days work. I had a pretty good slope to deal with. Once that was done I had watched the videos and just started putting it together. In 2 hours I had the pool filling with water on Saturday and went swimming Sunday afternoon. The extra couple inches in the 52" pool compared to the 48" are well worth it if your someone who likes to swim. I haven't had it up long enough to know how well the cleaning system works but if it's anything like the rest of the product I'm sure it will be just fine. Amazon.com had the best price I could find and the free shipping worked very well. The company contacted me and we worked out the delivery. I did have to open the box to unload my truck in pieces instead of the whole box at one time but each item was packed in it's own box so there was no problem with that either. Pool Rover Above Ground Pool Vac By Debbie The Pool Rover is the third and definitely the last automatic vacuum I will ever own. I previously owned the Aqua Critter by Hayward and the Great White by StaRite. The other 2 never completely cleaned my pool and I always ended up having to manually vacuum all the spots they missed. The other draw back to these 2 vacs is that they have to be hooked up to your skimmer to work and because of that the skimmer obviously is out of use during the entire vacuuming time. They also end up clogging your filter with dirt and leaves which forces you to have clean your filter very frequently. The Pool Rover works independently of your filter and skimmer. It comes with a small electrical box that you plug in and gets its power from that. It has a cloth filter bag that collects all the dirt and debris. The bag is reuseable, I have had mine for 3 years now and it is still like new. All you have to do is remove the bag and rinse it out with your garden hose. A few times a year I throw the bag into my washing machine and give it a good cleaning. The cleaner the bag is, the faster the Pool Rover will work. It will clean my entire pool completely and spotlessly in about an hour. It doesn't miss any spots, doesn't tie up my skimmer or clog up my filter. What more could you possibly want in an automatic pool vac? Today my pool was a total mess, the bottom was covered with leaves and tiny acorns and I was thinking that the Pool Rover might have a hard time cleaning such a big mess. But an hour later the bottom was spotless. It was even powerful enough to suck up all those acorns. I can't say enough about the Pool Rover, it is fabulous and such a work saver. If you are in the market for an automatic vac, get the Pool Rover, you will not be sorry. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Well, try this on By B. Szymanski A two year warranty; any other in this price range is only one. If you want it to go up your wall, you insert additional floats and increase the timer lap interval. Very easy to operate. Mechanically simple. The reason I'm posting: I find it easier to clean the filter bag when dry. You turn it inside out and shake out the heavier particulate matter as it "falls to your feet". Then, wash the filter bag in a bucket of water and rinse and repeat, no detergent. The instructions assume you will rinse and wash everything right away, after use and it is a good idea, just less awkward for me to shake the filter bag out when dry rather than try to manipulate a wet, floppy, dirty bag in one hand and spray it with a hose in the other hand. I find as I use it often enough, I don't have to wash the bag each time I use it; I'm going for every second time, meaning, I skim a lot manually, and I also do occasional light vacs the old fashioned way, if I feel the mess is small. My pool is surrounded by SOOOOO Many tall trees it is only fully in direct sunlight for four hours a day. I have tree debris attacking any time a storm blows in and I'm glad to have this Aqua bot on hand, it truly does filter the smallest particle. My pool is 27' round above with vinyl. If you do wait for the bag to dry before you shake clean, pop the filter base off, so the rest of the machine inside can be rinsed and dry properly. One thing I missed, as the instructions tell you, leave in the pool water for twenty minutes when finished running so motor can cool after running so long. The cycle is two hours and it auto shuts off, but you can kill it any time you notice the floor is clean. Also notice to make sure you rotate that axle pin side to the other after each use, it untwists the chord (you'll see). 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. very good cleaner and a time saver By A. Just enough room to float around in and small enough not to take up the little bit of yard I have. The last Intex pool I had wound up on some rocks which weren't noticed while setting it up. The pool did not puncture at all. This is one tough pool yet so easy to set up! 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Awsome Pool !!! And my grandson is 5 yrs.old and has already learned to swim in a matter of no time !! I highly recommend this pool for beginner swimmers !! Me and my 19 year old daughter got in the pool with my 2 grandkids and was amazed how much room was in the pool.. Great for that water therapy if you don't have a lot of room or even if you do. Add the "Intex River Run I" to this pool and you can float and spin with the breeze and changing sun. I just love it. After upgrading the stock filter and pump to the Intex Krystal Clear Saltwater System and Filter Pump (2010 Model from CMS) I haven't had to add any chemicals to the pool. the water is very clear and has been all summer. The pump can cycle the 1000 plus gals. very quickly. It feels like a spray jet on the spa. This pool hasn't leaked or given me any problems all summer long and with the "Intex Filter Pump Salt Chlorinator" it's perfect. Don't forget the fantastic Intex River Run I. Coopersmith This pool is a great buy for the price, but you should understand what you are getting. 1) The sides of the pool rise up as you fill the pool, therefore if you start the pool on an area with a slant you will have problems when the pool fills to the top--one side will have extra material because of the water level. The flatter the surface the better. You can make this work on ground that is somewhat uneven, but it take a lot of work. 2) You MUST make sure that bottom of the pool is pulled out to make a true circle. It is easy to be lazy with this because when there is no water in the pool it can look "good enough," but if you have an oval there is a chance that the water will push out and start to flow out once it is filled. 3) If you plan to put this away year after year get a ground cloth. If the pool is on grass the bottom is IMPOSSIBLE to clean. At the price, I would recommend throwing it out at the end of the season. 4) The pump is very basic. You will need to add chemicals to keep it clean. Get a net to clean the big stuff out. For the $60-100 price tag you can't really go wrong if what you are looking for is some simple fun and a chance to cool off. 32 of 32 people found the following review helpful. Best 60 bucks I've spent on my son... By J. Simpson MAKE the ground flat...I dug out a space for it in my yard, built a little retaining wall around it with cheap paver bricks, filled the area with sand, leveled the sand, and voila. I leave the pool up in the winter with a cover over it, add the algae-cide and chlorine in the spring and its good as new. This is the best 60-70 dollars I've ever spent on my son. He, my nephews, and any other visitors play for hours and hours in the summer time...absolutely awesome for the money. I run the pump on a timer, 8 hours a day, add about 1 - 3 oz of chlorine granules a day in the hot summer, shock it after storms or heavy use, and it stays clear and clean. The directions clearly state that you must set up on level ground. It will collapse under the weight of the water as soon as a little one leans on an uneven side, so DO NOT USE IT ON UN-LEVEL SURFACES. We are off aprox 1" from side to side and that is about the most you can go without probs. I even take dips after mowing the lawn or working in the yard, and my wife and I use it like a cool-tub for romantic eve's. Nice to sit and sip on wine on a hot August night ; ) 27 of 28 people found the following review helpful. GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO IN GROUND POOL By C. Dunn I have had this pool for three years now, I had the smaller one before that. It is wonderful. The key is to buy the saltwater filter. If you do this it is easy to maintain, and NO CHEMICALS. I live in southern California and it gets HOT in the summer. This pool goes up in MAY and down In September. I run the pump 24/7 to keep it crystal clean, and never notice it on my electric bill. Try that with an in ground pool! See all 111 customer reviews...

Perkins I made a hot tub out of a 100 gallon stock tank, some insulation, and a small pool filter. The only thing missing was hot water! I tried a large aquarium heater, but it didn't get hot enough (94F). This solves the problem - it gets it as hot as you want. You have to unplug it and take it out before you get in, but it still stays hot long enough for a nice long soak. I love this thing. 18 of 18 people found the following review helpful. Good for heating water in a bucket (shocking, I know), but so-so for sous vide By Will Oberman I bought this bucket water heater to hook up to the auber sous vide cooking controller. As a water heater, it's great. But, for sous vide, I'd find an alternate option. The big problem is you have to have fairly deep water for the unit to function. The instructions want 8 inches of water, and anything less than 6 inches can cause the unit to turn off Plus, it's a lot bigger than I expected. I think I'm going to use the other commenter's recommendation and get the electra heater, which has the heating coil at the bottom (and I wish I read his review more closely before purchasing this unit). 14 of 14 people found the following review helpful. Works Great For The Price By Jason Baker I use this for all grain beer making when the weather is too cold to use propane outside . Normally it would take around 2 hours for my wimpy stovetop to bring 7 gallons of wort to a boil , but with the aid of this baby I can do it in 45 minutes , which is a huge improvement . Haven't had any problems with scorching . The way it is designed it circulates liquid while it heats it . For the price it can't be beat ! See all 25 customer reviews....

Smartpool Sunheater heats my 19,000g pool to 88 By Daveyb I bought 4 sets of these - each set has (2) 2'x20' panels Each panel is supposed to put out 40k BTU, so each set = 80k BTU Multiply x4 sets = 320,000 BTU I only have 5 panels installed now I'm located about 20 miles south of Boston, MA My pool was 55 degrees 5 days before Memorial Day On Memorial day the pool was 76 degrees Today the pool was right around 88 degrees I have the panels setup in 2 systems 1st 2 panels are connected to the pool pump & filter & can be easily bypassed I can also divert the water into a hot tub, which is also solar heated The next 3 panels are setup with a seperate pump ~500gph Each set is on a different side of the pool This maximixes the solar heat thru the day These systems are very easy to setup & connect I've hads mine running since 2005...f free heat every year Longer swimming season & more comfortable I have 2 hot tubs that are solar heated The one by the pool I usually divert water from the pool to keep it below 98 Extra water/heat goes to the pool The 2nd tub is by the house & tops out at 110 if I run it all day I only run it for a few hours every other day now I bought several sets off EBAY -$125 for (2) 2'x20' panels I have an inground pool, these are labeled for above ground But they work just fine...don't pay extra for the "inground" panels 24 of 34 people found the following review helpful. Didn't work for me By Stephen D. Doane I was excited to find this product as a cheap alternative to a pricy gas heater, and bought it. The price was cheap enough, but then I spent the same amount again buying a bunch of diverter valves and plastic hoses, so I could divert water from filter through the SunHeater when the sun was shining, and bypass at night and when overcast. I even built a home-made 20 foot stand out of 2x4's so it wouldn't just sit on the ground and would have a better angle to collect the sun I didn't have any problems with the product itself, but I live near Boston, MA, and it's just not a very sunny part of the U.S. Couple that with my back yard having trees near my pool so even if it is a sunny day, sun won't hit my backyard until around 10:30am, it just never warmed the water enough for me. I have it connected to my 15 foot above ground 4 foot high pool, so I think one panel should have been enough. I ended up with hoses all over the ground and diverter valves hanging with bunji cords off the sides of the pool and filter, a huge 20 foot panel on a home made 2x4 bed, and just no where enough sun hitting the panel for me in my area. I am going to bite the bullet and pay around $600 for an LP gas heater this year. This way I can guarantee when I have a birthday party or cookout with kids coming over, I will know cloudy or whatever, that my pool will be warm enough for everyone to take a dip After all, as a scardy-cat adult I only go in when the water temp is 80+ and without a heater in my area with my backyard I am lucky if this happens ONCE the entire summer where I can catch a dip. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. An okay choice for warm climates By Mike G. I purchased six of these 2 X 20 solar heat panels a few years ago and they have definitely gotten some good use. They do perform as indicated and in warm weather are able to increase the pool temperature by 10 degrees or more. According to the thermometer on my salt chlorinator, when the temperature is about 85 or higher, the six panels raise the temperature of the water about 2 degrees each time water cycles through them. Not bad for something that uses essentially zero energy. The drawback to these when compared to a gas or electric heater is that when the outside temperature is below about 80 degrees or the sun is not shining on the panels they do little to nothing to increase the temperature of my water For me, they get the job done because I like my water pretty.
