We had trouble finding a replacement last year during the season and I stumbled upon this one. It works GREAT. Upon ordering, I received it in about four days. It turned over the pool in no time and the water was sparkling with just a half day's run time. The previous filter had been on for two days at a clip and would not handle the pool. The only problem I had with this pump is the picture is not accurate. The picture shows a larger pump with the medium canister separate from the pump; that was a big selling point for me. This is a single canister with the pump inside and under the filter medium. I would have ponied up the extra $30 for the larger pump had I known. I was UPSET upon receiving it, as I felt I had been duped, but its performance has been exceptional. I would still buy the larger one for my pool (~14'round x 33" deep) if only to save on the operating costs. Other than that however no complaints! 38 of 39 people found the following review helpful. HOW TO FIX IMPELLER/ AND MAKE PUMP LAST By blinn79 I read many reviews on these intex pumps, and the problem that seems to plague them is a cheaply made plastic impeller that moves (pumps) the water. So listen up folks... if you buy a replacement pump, or even buy a pool set for the first time, BEFORE you even use the pump for the first time, take it apart until you can remove the impeller. This is pretty simple requiring only about 4 or 5 screws be removed... just make sure you pay attention to how it comes apart (especially the washers around the impeller). Then go down to walmart, home depot, lowes, or any autoparts store and buy some EPOXY. This should be two different liquids (or gels) that come in two different tubes that you must mix together. This stuff is SUPER STRONG, and most are rated for 2,500 to 3,500 lbs per square inch of strength... like steel almost. So what your going to do is get a small paint brush, and "paint" the impeller with epoxy, making a SUPER STRONG coat over the cheap plastic. Just make sure you don't get any on the inside of the hole in the center of the impeller where it slides onto the metal rod. Allow it 24 hours to dry (depending on what type of epoxy you use), and then reassemble the pump. I guarantee this will save you money and headaches in the long run. Jones When I first read about the saltwater pool I was hesitant, all I could think of was how the water was at the coast. My skin is always sticky after I get out and the taste when it gets in your mouth ugh! My younger sister said to me "oh you will love the saltwater , it will be so good for your skin, and it won't make your eyes burn and turn red." So I decided to go ahead and get the saltwater pool and guess what? We all love it and the water stays crystal clear hardly any work to maintain, just clean out the filter and skimmer and swim , swim , swim. Here in the hot sunny days of central Texas, a cool refreshing dip in the pool is very nice. I would buy another one if my yard was bigger! 25 of 25 people found the following review helpful. Awesome Pool! By Terri We bought this pool on sale in August 2010. It took us about a week to get it setup because we had to take it down once to get the land level - it seemed level but once we started filling the pool we noticed how off it was so we started again. Now we are maybe an inch off from one side to the other but have had no issues whatsoever. We filled the pool with salt and ran the pump and salt water generator as instructed. The pool has been up now for three weeks and is crystal clear and clean without any additional chemicals. We absolutly love how easy it is to keep clean. We got a solar cover as well which warms the pool somewhat but makes "heat spots" more than warming the entire pool - but that is OK because pools are meant to cool off! We swim in the pool everyday and cover it when not in use. We found we only have to vacuum one a week and the pool is under trees. Excellent Value By Flachick I am a 62 year old woman and I put this pool up by myself in 2 hours. The hard part was leveling the ground. That did take me a couple days work. I had a pretty good slope to deal with. Once that was done I had watched the videos and just started putting it together. In 2 hours I had the pool filling with water on Saturday and went swimming Sunday afternoon. The extra couple inches in the 52" pool compared to the 48" are well worth it if your someone who likes to swim. I haven't had it up long enough to know how well the cleaning system works but if it's anything like the rest of the product I'm sure it will be just fine. Amazon.com had the best price I could find and the free shipping worked very well. The company contacted me and we worked out the delivery. I did have to open the box to unload my truck in pieces instead of the whole box at one time but each item was packed in it's own box so there was no problem with that either. Shulmister Item works well, completely hands-off; when the spa pump runs, it comes on. Things to be aware of: 1. You need adequate power handling for the line going to the heater, at 11Kw on 240V, it pulls about 45 amps...a wire not designed to handle that kind of current will heat up, melt the insulation, and ultimately fail. 2. Heat isn't instant; my 1,000 gallon spa heats at a rate of 5 degrees Fahrenheit per hour...do the math...if the water is 70 degrees, and you want 100, it is going to take about 6 hours to get there. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. This heater maintains the temperature uniformly. We had a propane heater for a number of years before this heater was installed and this heater is really superior to that heater (more uniform heat, cheaper to run) except it does take longer to bring the spa to temperature than the propane heater did. Could work better By eganov First off, I don't know why anyone would order these adapters from any place other than Intex directly - the manufacturer. They sell them for about $2.50ea and you can get two, delivered anywhere for about $10. Second, while they do attach nicely, they do cause the rest of the hose and attachments to stick out and pull down on the protruding 1 1/4" black nozzle as another poster indicated. Finally, there is a design flaw in that the black gasket, on the end of the adapter that attaches to the plunger valve, is mated to a rim that is hollow. You can see this by just pulling the gasket back on that edge. Once assembled everything will work fine for a while. But after a few minutes, the gasket gets sucked into the hollow rim and causes air to enter the system resulting in a "buzzing" around the adapter and significantly reduced water flow - probably not good for the pump either. The rim really should be a solid flat surface for the gasket to mate to. This is probably caused by the a pump that is designed for 1 1/2" openings moving water through the a 1 1/4" adapter. I considered fixing this by filling the hollow edge with liquid resin available from a craft store. I ultimately just cut out the 1 1/4" inflow and outflow black tube and installed the strainer/nozzle assemblies that came with the pump, ditching the adapters altogether. Everything works fine and I have an 1 1/2" path through the whole system. An added benefit is that the assemblies now don't pull down on the pool liner as they are closer and have much more surface area in contact with the liner. 20 of 24 people found the following review helpful. I ordered the filter pump from another company on Amazon because it was cheaper. CMS then CANCELED my order because I did not order the pump from THEM!!!! With todays economy this is deplorable!!! To punish a family who is trying to save a bit on shipping and order a product from someone who is offering it cheaper than your company!!! I have never been so disgusted!! Childers Several coworkers recommended the Solar Pill, so we tried the solar pill this year when we filled our pool. I think it worked great. Our pool water went from bone-chilling to very nice within 3 days time. It usually takes weeks to warm up a little. Chlorine & PH don't seem to be affected by it. By hjohnso248 When I first saw these heaters I had my doubts as to thier thermal absorption rate, well the first set raised my water ( 15 ft round X 48 in. dp.appx 4000 gal) by 8 degrees F ,it was good for mid Ohio area,so I bought a second set and run them in parallel series with a intex 2500 gph. filter pump ,dedicated to just the heat system,with seperate inlet and discharge nozzele w/ 1 1/2 in lines. This 2nd set provided an additional 9 - 10 degrees, my pool can be as high as 98 -100, or I can leave the solar cover off and there is substantial heat loss overnight,pumps only run from 8 am to 8 pm, 2nd pump runs a intex salt system,(Awesome in its self) , Well all I can say is this is a well designed product,easy to work with and if maintained properly ,should last many seasons without fail.They are of some black pvc (?) but small leaks should be easy to field repair through some sort of solvent welding process. Any way I am going to purchase 2 more kits so I can probably enjoy my pool around september with the shorter daylight hours and the heavy duty silver film 8 mm solar cover ,it should work great late into the season, I'm usually pretty skeptical about "reasonably "priced items,But these passed the test, their easy to uncoil from the shipping mode, ( These people pack this stuff like a PRO,Solid and compact,) the box is around 50 lb,s. u s. By Pond Frog Within a week of purchase, this pool cover came apart at the seam. However we have moderate to high winds and they had their way with this cover within a week. If your pool is protected from wind, this cover might do fine for you. Pool water was not low and had good level, filled past skimmer and outtake which were plugged, cover put on equally on all sides and tightened down well with the cable. We have tried all kinds of pool covers, expensive to cheap, placing the plastic wrapping on edges, etc and all the same result. They never last a season before torn and tattered, this one didn't last a week. NOTE: This year, 2011, I am trying the "mesh" cover sold here on Amazon through In The Swim. I am hoping that the winds wont lift, billow and up blow under this cover and rip or shred it like other covers have always done. It was promptly delivered to my door in just a couple days and very pleased with the quality and perfect generous size. On a sunny day in the mid-80's it will raise the pool temp at least 5 degrees, that's on a 24ft round pool of 13,500 gallons. So, two days in a row will raise it about 10 degrees. We are swimming while the neighbors are sitting it out. My husband did build a raised structure for it to sit on since we didn't want it on the ground. It faces south, the angle can be adjusted, and he covered it with chicken wire. Before the chicken wire was added we had trouble with cats climbing on it and it also blew off in a storm. We haven't had to put it away for the winter yet; that will be another adventure. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Nice but... By T. Nelson I purchased the Fafco Solar Bear pool heater last season. I only purchased one panel for my 15x30 oval pool figuring it would heat my pool about 5-6 degrees which is adequate for my needs. Sure enough, on sunny days it raised the pool temperature about 6 degrees. Installation was fairly easy; however, the downside to the solar panel is that it must sit out in the sun to to heat the panel enough to ease rolling or unrolling the panel. I used a couple of sand bags to hold the panel open. Rolling up the panel in the fall was a bit of a challenge for the same reason as above and required two of us to roll and strap it for storage. This season upon startup, I noticed a leak in the panel. Fortunately, a spot of hot glue has temporarily fixed the leak and and more care with installation should prevent leaks in the future. Setup was relatively easy but you do need a helping hand (my 13 y.o. helped me) and there are some things you should be aware of before you purchase it. 1. If you purchase the 18' X 9' X 52" pool with saltwater filter, you'll need 115 pounds of salt which cost me $30.00 at a local pool supply store. I bought 4 bags (each bag weighed 40 pounds) and used slightly less than 3 to start the system. You'll need to add more salt occasionally (30 pounds or so) when the code on the filter tells you to do so. 2. 5-6 feet of free space is required around the perimeter of the pool. (I didn't have this space available and had to change my desired location for the pool.) This is because the U-shaped metal supports, attached to the top rail, lay flat on the ground outwardly during setup. Then you pick the top rail off the ground which makes the U-shaped supports slide into place. This starts holding the pool up and in place. Your helper then attaches the pool liner to the bottom of each support. I hope this makes sense. You definitely need that extra space around the pool! 3. Your area should be very level. Take the time to clear rocks that could puncture the liner and to prep the area well. Amazon price, with shipping included beat the closest competitor by about 300$ at least at the time of my purchase. Whats Bad: 1. The Liner seeps at the corner seems. At each corner of the pool several pieces of the liner are seemed or welded together. The leaking seems three of the four have seeped/leaked since I put the pool up. The seems are wet & small puddles and/or wet spots always exist at the corners of the pool 2. The ladder is an accident waiting to happen it is very flimsy. The cost of a quality ladder or set of pool stair should be considered 250-500$ on eBay 3. Volley ball set is poor quality, this is not a big deal to me. 4. I think the description said you need to add some salt for the chlorine generator to work. I was surprised to find out I needed to add 115 pound of salt. It can be purchased at the pool store for 20-30$. Not a big deal just a big surprise. 5. Buttons seem to stick when setting filter hours and the timer is very rudimentary. I have some concern about the button problem as it might indicate that the system is not that robust. Only time will tell for sure. Conclusion: I considered sending the pool back due to the liner issue but the pool was set up filled with water & 115 pounds of salt. If the liner fails I guess my only hope is that it does so while it is still under warranty. Again only time will tell. It was pretty simple to set up except for the top corners. We thought they needed to be tight with the rods but they are just loose in there and flex when the pool water moves. The saltwater system is easy to use. My buttons aren't sticking. I had a hard time finding the right salt and ended up buying 50 little boxes of table salt and that took awhile to dump in. Then, the alarm went off and had a code 92 which means too much salt. So, after going to 5 stores to get enough salt, now I'm draining the pool that I just filled to get rid of the salt. Make sure you go by the 18 foot RECTANGLE pool for the amount of salt to add. Anyway, now it is fine. I love the pump. It keeps the water so

Everything I'd hoped for By Max Power When we bought our house, we knew ahead of time that the existing (2.5HP) pump was on its last legs. Sure enough, when we did the final inspection on the day of closing, the old pump had blown the circuit breaker, and our new neighbor told us it had been making a horrific noise for the past couple of days. I ordered the VS3050 from Amazon because it was eligible for Amazon Prime (!!) and so I was able to get it delivered quickly. We had also considered the SVRS model, but after checking the pool drain configuration (minimum of 2 drains in both pool and spa, at least 4 feet apart) we felt we could save some money with the VS-3050. We did the installation ourselves with little trouble. The manual and a sticker indicate that when attaching the inlet and outlets, you should go only one turn past hand tight, in our experience it needed a little more to prevent leaking, but that may have been due to our PVC. We were able to re-use the wiring from the pump we removed, so there was no electric work to speak of. We don't have an automation system right now so we just placed the included control cable in storage. This pump is incredibly quiet. The only sound you hear is the fan (which cools the motor). At its highest speed, you'll also hear water moving through the pipes - but the motor is unbelievably quiet. Our pump is about 6 feet off of our lanai, and we don't hear it at all - only when the water begins flowing over the waterfall on the spa do we realize the pump is on. It is far more energy efficient than the pump it replaced, checking the amperage at the box it seems to use about 45% of the power the old one used at roughly the same GPM. The control panel is very easy to use, and the unit seems very well built - I anticipate it being many years before we have to replace anything on this. I'd done a lot of research before picking the Pentair IntelliFlo series. Some of my friends thought I was nuts for spending this kind of cash on a pool pump (a new, standard 2.5HP can be had for a bit more than half the price of the VS3050) but seeing it in action, I'm very comfortable with my purchase. Shah Our utility PG&E, charges high summer rates - 43 to 48 c/ kwh at the top end. Along with rebates, there is increasing incentive to reduce energy costs. At 6hrs / day my old 2HP pump was using about 10 kwh/day or $4-5 /day. Even if I cut that in half, I would save $2-3 per day (5 kwh/day). With solar PV, I would need around 1kw system to get the same saving at installed cost of $7,000-8,000/kw. Installed cost of variable speed pump appeared to be around $1,500. 5x faster paybak than solar PV ! Well, that was the theory. I soon realized that integrating the VS-3050 pool pump with my existing pool automation system (ComPool 3000, solar heater, spa, pool cleaner) could be a challenge. If I had to replace the automation system, it would cost two to three times more. Luckily, there was an option to get IntelliComm-II interface (around $200) to integrate VS-3050 with my existing ComPool 3000. But the local installers were not confident about the installation and its costs, schedule and Warranty. Pentair itself was very helpful : (I) Warranty was not an issue if I purchased a new VS-3050 from Amazon. (II) IntelliComm-II interface would allow integration with ComPool-3000. (III) the combination qualified as title 20 system for PG&E rebates. The pump arrived promptly from Amazon. Automation interface arrived soon after. Pump and interface physical installation went smoothly. There was a problem with wiring harness (RJ-12) on the shipped interface adapter - so I needed help from Pentair tech support. Harhager We looked at getting a "real" pool but couldn't justify the cost. This arrived quickly and was complete. We did pay the extra to have the site prepared, we have a pretty good slope to our yard and really did not like the idea of all of that digging. Once the water compacted the soil, there is still a very minor dip at one end, only about one inch difference total but enough to notice with the water level. I personally don't think that is possible to have dirt completely level. Be sure to check for stones, even a few inches down from the surface. The weight of the water will accent these bumps pretty well. I had read other reviews that said it was a pain to put up and with three small kids, we opted for a pool installer to set it up. Wish we hadn't. It was Lincoln logs, easy as pie to put together. You definitely need two or more people though. The pieces fit together easily but snugly, especially once the water started going in. The kids have a tendency to hang on the sides as they adjust goggles and whatnot, but it is fine. We did upgrade the ladder to one with a bigger platform and a gate for the kids' safety. The pump is wonderful. We had a 12' round with the most pitiful pump the year before. We had algae and sediment problems all summer. It was a serious pain. This pump actually moves a lot of water. I had purchased a used PoolFrog system from Ebay and put that in line with the pump. One mineral cartridge a season, and one BacPac every 6 weeks, and I swear that I never had to add a single thing all summer. The water was clear and beautiful every day. The cleaning kit that came with pool works great too. The skimmer and vacuum really get the sand and grass off the bottom. It never looked bad until I was done sweeping, then I looked at what it picked up. Yuck! I had to sweep about two or three times over the season, simply because of grass stuck to feet and things. Honestly, we love it. It is big enough for several kids and a few adults, it isn't obnoxious blue, and I get to spend more time IN my pool, than MAINTAINING my pool. Don't follow the enclosed directions for winterizing. You will crack the plunger valves like we did. A cheap fix though, $30 for two new valves and it is as good as new. We live in NE Ohio and left it up for the winter with a chemical kit in it before and it was fine. The solar cover that comes with it is sad. Upgrade to a bubble one. That's it. We love it. Couldn't be happier. ****It is now more than halfway into the second season and the pool is still great. We actually added a solar heater to the pool this year and the pump works fine with it. Our local pool store tried to tell us the pump wasn't strong enough to push the water through the heater and the frog but it is fantastic. We actually have to turn the pump off sometimes to keep the water from getting too warm. The vacuum works with the heater intalled also. Our first intex frame pool (15') lasted three years. Mice found it the last winter and I decided to throw it out rather than patch all the holes and scrub the mess. This 18' pool is in its second year. Better hose attachments make it even easier to care for. The skimmer works great, the filter is easy to spray clean with a hose every couple of days, so I don't have to keep replacing with new ones. I have a saltwater system which is also trouble-free (although it took me awhile to get the hang of it). Since I'm now a pro at assembling and taking apart these pools, it takes me only a few hours, all by myself. When my husband pitches in, it goes even more quickly. I have absolutely no complaints... totally worth the investment, since it's probably going to last another 3
